Hard Beech (Nothofagus ericoides)

This is a creeping ground fern with fronds covered in pale brown hairs. It is regarded as a nuisance in many gardens as it spreads quickly. It is found throughout New Zealand. This photo was taken at Lake Okakuri, Taupo, New Zealand.

Kidney Fern/Raurenga (Trichomanes reniforme)
This is a creeping ground fern with wavy edged fronds. It is very difficult to grow and is not grown commerically. It forms a mat on the forest floor, or on a tree trunk.
